Establishing a strong connection and building trust between you and your therapist is the most important aspect of pursuing counseling services. To ensure that we are a suitable match, I provide a 15-minute phone conversation where we can become acquainted and you can ask any questions you would like so that you hopefully start to feel connected and confident going forward. This interaction serves as an opportunity for us to define what you are looking for and make sure the services that we provide match your needs.
Deciding if you need counseling or therapy is a personal and individual choice. However, there are some common signs and indicators that seeking professional help might be beneficial:
1. Persistent emotional distress: If you are experiencing prolonged feelings of sadness, anxiety, anger, or hopelessness that interfere with your daily life and relationships, counseling can provide support.
2. Difficulty coping with life changes: Major life events such as a loss, divorce, job loss, or relocation can be overwhelming. Counseling can assist you in navigating these transitions and developing healthy coping strategies.
3. Relationship problems: If you are facing challenges in your personal relationships, whether with a partner, family member, or friend, counseling can help improve communication, resolve conflicts, and enhance relationship dynamics.
4. Unhealthy coping mechanisms: If you find yourself relying on harmful coping mechanisms like substance abuse, self-harm, or excessive withdrawal, therapy can aid in identifying healthier ways to manage stress and emotions.
5. Low self-esteem or self-worth: If you struggle with low self-worth, lack of self-confidence, or negative self-talk, counseling can support you in developing self-compassion, improving self-image, and fostering personal growth.
6. Traumatic experiences: If you have experienced a traumatic event or are struggling with the aftermath of trauma, therapy can help you process and heal from these experiences.
7. Persistent unexplained physical symptoms: Sometimes, emotional distress can manifest as physical symptoms such as headaches, stomachaches, or insomnia. If you are experiencing these symptoms without a clear medical cause, counseling might be able to address the underlying emotional factors.
Remember, seeking counseling can sometimes feel vulnerable but it is a strong and courageous move toward improving your overall well-being. Everyone needs a positive connection to gain help in working through life’s problems from time-to-time. A relationship with a trained clinician can provide you with the guidance, support, and tools necessary to navigate life’s challenges and promote personal growth.
We offer both telehealth and in-person therapy services.
We do not want finances or budget to be a barrier for getting the help you are seeking. We are in-network with several insurance providers. For out-of-network providers, we can give a super bill to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement of their portion. In addition, we accept cash pay and a range of sliding scale possibilities to accommodate as many budgets as possible.
Sessions are 53 minutes each. The length of treatment depends largely on the individual client and their goals. Our desire is to support clients to the level of their need, help them reach their goals and to equip/ empower them, so that therapy will no longer be as necessary in the future.
